About Me

I have been sharing my passion for drumming by teaching young adults and older who are excited to learn this dynamic instrument, from zero experience to advanced levels.

In 2003, I graduated from the Vienna Conservatory in Austria. Since then I have been teaching drums for over 17 years, privately in Vienna, AT and later in my own teaching studio in Philadelphia, PA. Also, I was an instructor at the Vienna International School (2004-2006), at Chuck James’ Music School on Oahu and published the book PLAY AS YOU ARE: A Collection Of Essays – Picking A Drummer’s Mind in 2015.

My Teaching Philosophy

Any drum student has the ability to succeed – either on a personal level, a professional level, or both. It is my job as their teacher to set the expectations very high; higher than the student may think they can achieve at first. Whether or not the student actually achieves the expectation at face value is not the point. The journey to reach those heights is how the student truly discovers the instrument and their potential.

While I teach specific drumming techniques and methods, I focus on helping each student develop their skills so that they can, at one point, help themselves.

I tailor each lesson to support the student in becoming the best player he or she can be, and offer concepts to help in the drummer’s musical journey, and to overcome any roadblocks along the way. I believe in building strong fundamentals through specific exercises and learning to play (along to) songs. Into each lesson is infused the passion and experience of years of teaching, performing, living & breathing drums.
